About PoolCalc

PoolCalc is an independent set of practical tools for pool owners who want a clear answer before adding chemicals.

Why we built it

Pool maintenance often starts with a simple question: how many gallons are in the pool, and how much product should be added? PoolCalc turns those measurements into transparent, checkable calculations without requiring an account.

How the calculations work

The volume tool uses pool dimensions and average depth. The shock calculator uses the target free chlorine for the selected treatment, current FC, pool volume, product strength, and a CYA adjustment when CYA is above 50 ppm.

Data and safety

Formula constants and product strengths are kept in the site data file so the reference tables and interactive calculator use the same source. Product labels and a current water test should always take priority. Never mix pool chemicals, and keep swimmers out until chlorine levels are safe.
